Atlanta Braves Prospects: Most Overrated

Most Overrated Braves Prospects
(Mr. Benjamin you may not like #2)

1. Brent Lillibridge- speedy, will never be strong enough to swing major league bat....

2. Clint Sammons- good in college, but don't think the bat will transfer past AAA....

3. Cody Johnson- power but Another Francoeur (no adjustments) with a huge hole in his swing....

4. Michael Fisher- best case scenario as a player: see Brent Lillibridge and not nearly as quick....

5. Van Pope- had to have a fifth, won't ever start for the Braves, but have seen him on top lists....

I was scared that the Braves had too much confidence in Sammons, but after the draft I was reassured after they drafted a few catchers in the early rounds. Sammons would be a better back-up than Corky Miller, but they are trying to develop him in AAA, they don't want him just rotting away on the bench behind McCann.....The Joe

The Braves season being basically over I think it'd be the good time to evaluate these prospects at the major league level, especially the pitchers.
Let's start preparing next season's bullpen now.

I agree romainatl, we need to see what we have because when we trade Teixera around July 31st we will need to get a gauge on what we need. Thanks for the comment... The Joe

The Joe said it here first... "when we trade Teixeira around July 31st". What can we expect in return, a starter? A closer? Can we trade Soriano too? Will there be any good pitching available to grab with Teixeira as the bait?

Where o where is Mike Gonzalez, we need ya buddy! The Pro

Good Post!!!

I havent seen 3, 4, 5 play yet, I saw Brent and your're right he is very little, and will not be able to swing in the big leagues. As far as Clint goes, I saw him play and he impressed me. He hit three balls hard to the outfield right at them. He looked good, but your right, let him keep getting better in AAA. We can maybe use him along with someone else in a trade down the line to get a key player we need?

Agree, we will use Sammons as trade bait down the road to fill our many holes....
