Fresno State and LSU make College World Series

LSU was down to its last three outs on Sunday night and I was watching with a feeling that something special was going to happen. UC Irvine was on cloud 9 thinking that they were the best thing since sliced bread, but most of us were watching knowing that when that 5 o clock train came through on the tracks next to Alex Box stadium LSU was going to win. It gave me chills as the train horn went off as the first batter stepped to the plate in the top of the 9th for LSU. I am not even an LSU fan but the crowd at that game was as loud as I have ever heard a crowd in college, it was amazing. It could have been the last game at the closing Alex Box, but the spirits of 5 national championships and former players did not let the Tigers lose that night. Most of us knew what would happen the next day as well, as the Tigers clinched their spot in Omaha with three touchdowns, beating UC Irvine 21-7. It made me appreciate how much sports mean to the people in the south.
Fresno State was down and out after falling behind 5-2 in game 2 of the series in which Arizona State led 1-0, but as I fell asleep thinking they had no chance they fought back. I woke up the next morning with a bit of shock as I saw that Fresno State easily won game 2. They matched the Sun Devils inning with a bigger one and went on to win. Game 3 started out with a 2 run Devils lead and I thought well here we go, ASU is going to LSU them, but no, like they had been doing since the WAC tournament Fresno limited the damage, stayed out of big innings and blasted their way to Omaha, as they held off the Sun Devils late rally to win the game. I was amazed at how a team with that little Super Regional experience was able to go into Tempe where ASU was 38-3 and beat what I thought was the best team in this year's tourney. Congrats to the Fresno State Bulldogs, and now you get to face the most consistent team over the past 5 years, the Rice Owls, but hey who cares you are the first 4 seed to ever make Omaha, you are playing with house money, all in......The Joe

Joe!!! Good Stuff.

It is nice to write and blog with with people who know what they are talking about and are similar in the way they think and go about things. I agree. LSU is always fun to watch and I have liked them since I was a little guy. You knew UC-Irvine had no chance, so it was nice to see a good shalacking the last game of the set, whats more embarrasing then Irvine get schooled, was ASU not being able to get pass Fresno State. This series was a major upset. After a new school record for ASU having 15 players getting drafted, it is embarrasing. In my opinion, I feel they got too cocky, and a little complacent. It happens sometimes. I look for Fresno to be a solid sleeper pick. I hope Rice keeps their eye on the ball. I watched Rice win the other day, and usually you see the typical dog pile. Nope!!! They were like been there, done that. NEXT?

Rice has been there before and will be there again, they are well coached and have a really good program. Arizona State was scared in the 3rd game, because they knew it would be an ambarrassment to lost that game. It was a nice thing to see a team like Fresno State win, another well coached team.
