As usual, the sporting world throws us many twists and turns. My initial World Series matchup had the new look Detroit Tigers beating my home town Atlanta Braves. As if I have to mention, that's not going to happen. I am going to reevaluate the situation and post my updated year end predictions...
NL EAST
1. Philadephia Phillies (they hit TOO much)
2. Atlanta Braves (young Braves will catch the "fish" and fall short of the "Phils") * NL Wildcard
3. Florida Marlins
4. New York Mets (beating themselves)
5. Washington Nationals (the only team I left the same from preseason NL East prediction)
NL CENTRAL
1. Chicago Cubs (will finish with the best record in baseball)
2. St. Louis Cardinals (I picked them to finish last)
3. Milwaukee Brewers
4. Houston Astros
5. Pittsburgh Pirates
6. Cincinnati Reds (too good to be this bad)
NL WEST
1. Arizona Diamondbacks (a lot better than I thought)
2. Los Angeles Dodgers (average, this division is crap though)
3. Colorado Rockies (in last place right now, but will make a huge 2nd half push)
4. San Diego Padres (a lot worse than I thought)
5. San Francisco Giants (just awful!!!)
NL Champions - Chicago Cubs (preseason pick - Atlanta Braves)
NL Rookie of the Year - Geovanny Soto, Chicago (preseason pick - Jay Bruce, Cincinnati)
NL MVP - Chase Utley (preseason pick - David Wright)
NL Cy Young - Brandon Webb (preseason pick, John Smoltz)
AL EAST (Keeping this the same as my preseason picks)
1. Boston Red Sox
2. New York Yankees
3. Tampa Bay Rays
4. Toronto Blue Jays
5. Baltimore Orioles
AL CENTRAL (Also, keeping the same as preseason)
1. Detroit Tigers (sticking with this, as the Tigers turn it around and fight to win division)
2. Cleveland Indians
3. Chicago White Sox
4. Minnesota Twins
5. Kansas City Royals
AL WEST
1. Anaheim Angels
2. Oakland A's (had them #4 in preseason and they have somehow managed to get the job done)
3. Texas Rangers
4. Seattle Mariners (wow I really missed on these guys as I had them #2)
AL Champions - Boston Red Sox (preseason pick - Detroit Tigers)
AL Rookie of the Year - Jacoby Ellsbury, Boston (keeping this the same, leads the majors in steals with 34, and will see way more time once the Sox drop Coco)
AL MVP - Josh Hamilton, Texas (What a story!!!) (preseason pick - Alex Rodriguez)
AL Cy Young - Joe Saunders, Los Angeles (preseason - Daisuke Matsuzaka, injury killed this)
World Series Champions 2008 - Boston Red Sox (too tough, even without Big Papi) (preseason pick - Detroit)

Nice.....
This took some time and dedication
Very Nice...High Five
Pro, I had the same match up in the series, I rememeber telling my cousin my picks before the season. Injuries and attitudes hurt me on that one...
Phillies Red Sox
Cubs White Sox
Diamondbacks Angels
WC Cardinals Indians
Big leap of faith. Red Sox taking the Phillies in the series. I think we could actually see a series go 7 games though...
Chipper Jones NL MVP and Batting Title
I agree with your picks - it is difficult to tell at the mid season but your facts seem to be in order - did you know that of the 8 preseason players touted to be the braves best infiled and pitching staff only one is still paying at present - I watch every game and sometimes I dont even know who is coming up to bat next - also I am feeling bad about all the digs I have been gining francour - I think we are messing him up even more - although I do think he is overrated he seems like a good kid and I am going to lay off
If we are messing with Francouer, he should stay OFF the blogs and stay IN the cages! Just a suggestion... suck it up and start producing! I'm tired of it!
