NBA Mock Draft 1.0 - Picks 1-5 and Projections

1. Chicago Bulls - they will select Memphis G Derrick Rose, and Vinny Del Negro will turn this team back into 4 or 5 seed in the weak Eastern Conference next season.

2. Memphis Grizzlies (in a trade with Miami) - it's not by the book and yes I am going out on a limb, but that's what we do here! The Grizzlies will trade up and take the big man they want at #2 in Kansas State F and man-child Michael Beasley. He will team up with youngster Rudy Gay and Mike Conley Jr. to form a solid foundation for years to come. Too bad they are in the West (how is Memphis in the West?) and miss the playoffs again next year.

3. Minnesota Timberwolves - easy to toss O.J. Mayo into the mix here (I'm not convinced on Mayo), but the T-Wolves will select the top C in the draft in Stanford 7-footer Brook Lopez. He will join Al Jefferson in the front court and help lead the lowly T-Wolves to another lottery selection next year.

4. Seattle Sonics - could trade the pick, but I am going with the selection of Arizona G Jerryd Bayless with this selection. Bayless is just what upcoming star Kevin Durant needs in Seattle - a G who can get him the basketball and take his 20 shots per game (who is he A.I.?). Unfortunately again, they are in the West and cannot compete this season... but, this is a step in the right direction.

5. Miami Heat - Southern California G O.J. Mayo. Simply put, he's the best available and the only reason they could give up their #2 pick. The Mayo/healthy D. Wade duo will be fun to watch, but I see MIA just missing the playoffs next season.

Thanks for the post, needed a refresher. I think all three, Mayo, Beasley, and Rose are great picks for any team. They can bring the most for any organization and fill the most need. The Heat should go get Mayo, they need his help fast, from best to worst, winning 15 games, 15 games, I dont know tons but a three old could tell ya, that is shitty. Well, at least it cant get much worse. D Wade, Kobe, AI, they all need a big man to give the ball too when their not hoggin' it. I see the Heat getting back to normal, having some game again, and being a high seed in the east.
