The best first-baseman left in the market. Young, a lefty that can hit for average and power, and play solid D around .998. Good for the future. Steven Who??? No offense, but Frank Wren got hustled. Tex is a 3 or 4 man deal for sure. Better deal for the Angels, even though they have a hefty bill to pay if they sign Tex to a deal later, but they have the best fan base in Cali. They put people in the seats, and will love Tex. They can afford him. They will win the West, maybe even the ALCS. Braves have some serious moves and decisions to make as the season ends. Braves will finish 15 games back in the East and contend with the Nats, it is what it is. Whatever. Im still pissed.
Watch your mouth Joseph! I think Tex deserved more in return, but there was no one out there willing to give it up. Wren made a move he had to make. He had to fill a void at 1B (unless you want Thorman back). The Braves now have a solid fielding, hitting, approaching his prime 1B locked up for 3 years. Maybe he will provide the big hit Atlanta needs, cuz Tex sure as heck didn't. Tex was gonna walk after this year regardless so atleast we got a solid player in return. The Pro
What other choice did we have? Tex kept talking about how badly he wanted to stay with the club and finish out his career here yet him and his dick of an agent refused a pretty nice offer preseason. Tex is NOT worth 20 million a year until he produces in the first AND second half.
I wanted to keep him just as much as the next guy, but our season is done without chipper, smoltz, hudson, glavine etc. It's time to rebuild and not having to tie up 15+ million dollars to keep Texeira here gives us money to go out and get another outfielder and pitching. McCann will move up into the cleanup spot and Chipper and him will have to carry the team power-wise.
Terry Pendleton also needs to get the axe IMO.
The thing I have against Frank Wren is that he pulled the trigger way too early, we still have another day til the trade deadline, when teams get desperate, there is a reason Frank Wren was fired in 7 months in Baltimore, I am now realizing why....
Now all they need to do is get rid of Jeff because I'm pretty sure people are dumb enough to still pay a pretty price for this guy.
