First off this is not the "Dream Team". This is an all-star team. With that being said, Team USA barely squeaked by in it's final pre-Olympic test on Tuesday versus Australia. Yeah I know they won by 11, but this game got way closer in the 3rd period than it ended. A direct quote from PG Dwyane Wade, "we came out lazy". Oh really D-Wade? Is that acceptable? Your squad is coming off a pathetic bronze medal finish in the 2004 games (losing 3 games, Team USA had lost 2 games total prior to 2004, and you come out lazy? I know these games are simply a tune up for the Olympics, but for a team that is supposed the comprised of the "best basketball players in the world", coming out lazy is not a good thing. Most people only get one shot at this. Lazy is not an option. On a positive side note, it seems as if Kobe Bryant has become a defensive machine! Good for you Kobe, I'm rooting for you. Make us proud! By the way Kobe, where is Shaq? What do you mean he didn't make the team because he is old, slow and out of shape? I thought you can't win without him? What a joke! The Pro

I am not surprised. Some guys are playing for the right reasons, but some would rather be at home getting high, and going to the stripclub droppin benjamins, or doing nothing at all. The mature players know the significance of playing for your country and the others, well, hopefully they can open their eyes and learn something. It is an honor. You represent every true american in the USA, as well as those fighting over-seas for our country. Our country is the best in the world, but needs a lot of work. If you look back at the Olympics they signify something bigger than the player. They signify some of the most important poltical, social, cultural and global issues needed to be addressed and the Olympics are a great tool and platform for these athletes to help make strides. They use their talents to break through these issues-culture norms, and shed some light for a better tomorrow. It is a blessing to these athletes, and some really do care, but ignorance still exist. It is never going to be perfect, but can be better. I am glad D wade came out and said what he said, real leaders do. It is going to take a lot to keep all these ego's under control and Coach K should have his hands full, but he can make players listen. There is NO EXCUSE for the 2008 USA Basketball Team. They should win every game. Go out there and play, not to mention destroy these countries with american class, hustle, and respect.
BIG BEN
Let's be honest, whatever the Olympics was supposed to stand for or what it may have once stood for, it's a joke now. It is a sponsorship bonanza, the drug testing is a joke, everyone sells out, most of the world no longer watches, and all nations are supposed to put politics aside but they never do.
USA teams should play for personal pride and patriotic reasons, but if we are staking their effort as a tribute to some BS "Olympic spirit," that's a joke.
