Beijing

Just wanted to put my two cents in about the Opening Ceremonies and the beginning of the Olympics. I have always liked the Summer Olympics better than the Winter, and I have always been a casual observer of the Olympics. I have never really sat down and watched, except when USA Soccer or Basketball play and maybe some gymnastics. I have been watching a lot more this year, and I think it has to do with how incredibly awesome the Opening Ceremonies were in Beijing. I could not take my eye of the television, and I think I saw every single country walk into that beautiful stadium. I got chills when the United States entered and they showed George Bush grinning like a little kid in a candy store, very cool. As the games have gone on, I have never seen a better coordinated and run event in my life. During the volleyball timeouts even the Chinese mop men who come out during timeouts are in perfect sync. Everything I have seen has been perfect, and it is exciting to see a whole country buy into something so much as China has bought into the 2008 Olympic Games. True, I don't agree with anything they do politically but this is not about politics this is about the greatest athletes in the world competing for a gold medal. I will talk a little politics right now, but this will be all, I absolutely love that the French were the ones that watched their quarter pool lead evaporate as the Phelps led USA relay team won gold, especially after the French said they came here for one reason, to smash the United States. Keep talking smack, because when Germany is in Paris, we ain't coming this time. Great start to the games, look forward to see if the US can beat Nigeria and get into the Quarterfinals in soccer. Go USA!!

what a sight to behold - the whole olympics makes me shiver - how about the venue on parallel bars where a young man who has practiced every day of his life - put his but down on a bar in a lift and now its all over!! these athletes are amazing - love all venues - i have also always preferred summer - love swimming, diving and gymnastics cant wait to watch more tonight - it makes me swell with pride with "our team" on the podium!!!
