Many factors go into selecting a cruise line and if I had to recommend saving money, quality of service, quality of ship, etc, my top 5 would be as follows:
1. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line-great service, ships are beautiful, great activities (horse race is favorite), food is the best of 5.....compare to a trip to Malibu
2. Princess Cruise Line-great service and great nightclubs (top floor club), great food, compare to a trip to Miami.....
3. Norwegian Cruise Line- good service, free style dining (eat when you want), food is adequate, good choice of restaurants and bars, fun for the laid back person....compare to a trip to St. Augustine.....
4. Holland America Cruise Line- very clean, good food, not as many activities, I would recommend for older people...., compare to a trip to Baltimore.....
5. Carnival Cruise Line- Party ship, ships are not clean, but have best price, food is not good...., but if you like Panama City this will be the line for you.....

If you are not into gambling, and you are a kid at heart, I would recommend the Disney Cruise Line- have great private island, great activities, great food, and are very entertaining.....would compare to a trip to Orlando, Fl, haha.....

Been on Princess twice - it was the greatest - got to have a balcony - to anyone who has never cruised - please do - for sure we do like gambling and a disney cruise full of kids would be a nightmare!!!
had a mini suite on Princess, was awesome, balconies are great, but if you are looking to save money inside rooms are great too, because you are not in the room much.....usually eating, at pool, gambling, watching a comedian, watching a show, etc...., but the balcony during the sunsets and waiting on your significant other are amazing.....love cruises, best vacation on the planet.....
