United States Soccer

With an elbow and a red card in the 4th minute for the United States their dreams of getting to the quarterfinals for the 2nd time in 50 years were dashed. Nigeria beat the United States 2-1 in a hard fought match. The Netherlands beat Japan 1-0 to advance with Nigeria. The United States had a good team and this is a disappointment but they were picked 3rd in this pool at the beginning of the Olympics. Playing with 10 guys, the US gave all they had and scored on a penalty kick in the 87th minute, and had a free kick off the crossbar in the 90th minute. Two plays kept the US from being winning all 3 in this pool, the crazy free kick in the last minute against the Netherlands, and the stupid elbow throw in the 3rd minute against Nigeria. I hope this builds some momentum for upcoming events, especially the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa.
